The Weissenborn Style 4 was offered throughout the 1920’s and in to the 30’s.
Taken from the Tonk brothers Co catalogue from the late 1920’s the Style four is described as: “Entire body - top, bottom and sides - made from specially selected and most beautifully marked Koa. Fingerboard of specially with extra fancy position marks, fretted with white holly. Edges of top and bottom of body, also finger board, neck and head, completely surrounded with rope binding, and rich marqueterie around soundhole. A magnificent instrument of the most beautiful finish and appearance, and tone of wonderful quality and carrying power. Body depth 3 inches”
The Anderwood Authentic Style 4 has been patterned from a fantastic condition and powerful sounding circa 1927 Style 4 from our collection of originals. Every detail has been captured to ensure an absolute true recreation. Being built in the same way as the originals has meant our instruments have a lightweight feel yet are still strong.
As is correct for this period, full hot hide glue is used across the construction. We build using only the finest old grown and slow dried Koa wood, and then finished using a hand rubbed nitrocellulose lacquer. Every attention to detail has been taken to authentically replicate a immaculate vintage instrument in look, feel and tone.
As the original Style 4’s were, our Style 4 is constructed using a specially selected and most beautifully marked Koa. If you would prefer a supreme masters grade Koa option is also available for your build.
